Art has always been more than self-expression. For many disabled artists and local artisans across India, it is also a livelihood. Yet systemic barriers, lack of visibility, and limited market access continue to hold talented creators back. At Alakananda Kala in Bengaluru, our Art Merchandising initiative was built to change that. By promoting and selling artwork created by disabled artists and local artisans, we generate sustainable income that funds our community wellness programs while helping artists achieve genuine financial independence. Because creativity deserves not just an audience, but a market.
